Writing a shitty draft can be somewhat simple and basic at first. Fixing and making the draft not so shitty is the hard part. After reading this article the shitty draft in my eyes became an analogy to life. Nothing is perfect and everything takes practice or time to fix. Starting a new job for example can be a shitty draft and moving up in the business or getting comfortable in the workplace can be the “third” draft. From what Lamott had to say, I think writing is more about the process than the finished product. The process of improving a draft provides a learning process. Lamott has fears of what people would review her products, which is essentially normal and is why the process takes time to revise and re draft. Whenever I have a paper to write or even a text to send I always form a base text and analyze and fix it until it is near perfect. I think first drafts are more than just writing on paper. I believe shitty drafts exist all around us on a daily basis and we have the ability to not only improve a draft but to improve our lives one revision at a time.
