This article is about how the University of Miami Hillel held a special event called Open Mic Night to raise money for one of their fellow members. After Connor Golden was severely injured this past summer in Central Park, Hillel members decided to take action and make an impact to help and support Connor Golden. According to students, the Hillel community was overwhelming at first but provided love and respect for everyone. This source relates to the research topic because it demonstrates a clear example of how being part of the Hillel community is beneficial, welcoming, and can make an impact on your life. This source is unique because it provides a different perspective of Hillel. It demonstrates that Hillel is a community that takes place worldwide and influences more than just Florida State students.

This source is the main website of Hillel at Florida State University. When accessing this website, a student can learn more about Hillel and the specific community on campus. The website presents the range of events that are held which include Hanukkah in July, stir-fry Shabbat, leboard meetings, and birthright trips. The website clearly describes the community as a place where students, staff, and leaders are dedicated in providing a welcoming, pluralistic, and inclusive atmosphere on campus. This source relates to my topic by forming a base for Hillel. The information provided by this website can be used to introduce the paper and explain exactly what Hillel is. This source is different from the others because it provides technological research that is directly related to the individual Hillel at FSU. This source provides detailed descriptions of the broad range of events that are held at Hillel. This gives students the opportunity to learn more about them and a chance to participate. This source provides a different aspect of Hillel, but can potentially distract my paper from the unique experience of Hillel at the specific FSU campus.

I interviewed Jason Randall at the Hillel office located on the Florida State campus. During the interview I learned more about the community and what occurs day to day. Jason Randall gave me insight on what it’s like being part of Hillel, considering he is an active student member. This interview can help develop my paper by providing research to why I want to be a part of the community and how it has influenced many students like himself. This source is unlike others because it gives direct research on how Hillel has developed and impacted Jason Randall’s life while giving insight to his direct experience with the community.
